Dear friends,

A joint Department of Health and Home Office review of access to the NHS by
foreign nationals is due to report shortly. There is great concern that GPs
will lose the discretion to register and treat failed asylum seekers,
victims of trafficking, undocumented migrants and people on section IV
support. For details see this Medact briefing...

http://www.medact.org/content/refugees/Briefing%20V1%20agreed.pdf

If you have a moment or two over the next few days, please take the
following actions...

- sign the statement at
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/access/index.html (if
you are a doctor or nurse, make this clear)

- write a letter to your MP (there is one you can download and adapt at
www.medsin.org/defendprimaryhealthcare)

- forward this email to friends and colleagues you think will be concerned

If you would like to get involved in the campaign please contact me, see the
website or join the mailing list (
http://groups.google.com/group/ghap-asylum?hl=en).

Many thanks,

Tom Yates
