A few recent publications related to global health inequalities that might
be of interest:

World Health Statistics
2007<http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/notes/2007/np24/en/index.html>-
the World Health Organisation's compilation of 50 health indicators
from
its 193 member countries. Included is data on health care spending,
projected mortality and morbidity figures for 2030 and the relationship
between socioeconomic indicators and health.

'A typology of actions to tackle social inequalities in
health,'<http://jech.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/61/6/473>
*Margaret Whitehead, **Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health* 2007;*
61*:473-478*.* A recent article that provides a theoretical structure to
programmes aimed at reducing inequalities, focusing on strengthening
individuals, communities, work places/environment and macro-policy.

And a more personal perspective from Paul Farmer on equity and health care
in the Americas: '*Whither equity in health? The state of the poor in Latin
America'*<http://www.scielosp.org/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0102-311X2007001300002&lng=en&nrm=iso&tlng=en>
