CHANGES AT THET

THET said goodbye to Ajoy Datta, our Ghana Coordinator, and wished him luck with
his new role at the Overseas Development Institute.

Kemi Tesfazghi has been appointed West Africa Coordinator and will build on Ajoy's
work in Ghana, plus support work in Sierra Leone and serve as a focal point for
West Africa. Kemi will join THET from 14th April 2008. Kemi brings some excellent
experience to THET. Amongst other things she has worked as a project officer in
Nigeria for a community health organization; served as a research assistant in
WHO's Child and Adolescent Health Department and, more recently, as a Technical
Officer and has spent two years in programme roles with the British Red Cross in
the UK and South Asia. Kemi has a Masters in Public Health from the London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

THET welcomes Thea Lacey as its much-needed Fundraiser. Thea has had work experience
with Tommy's, the baby charity, and Christian Aid, and has been a volunteer fundraising
assistant for International Childcare Trust. She has an MSc from SOAS, London and
is tackling another MSc, in Public Health and Health Promotion, at the London School
of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Thea will concentrate on trying to raise more
unrestricted charitable income to underpin THET's work and independence.

WORKING OVERSEAS - VACANCIES

Edna Adan Maternity Hospital, Somaliland, was the first hospital in Somaliland where
THET and King's College Hospital sent a team of nine people for two weeks to assist
when the hospital opened to the public in March 2002. Since then, the hospital has
seen and treated tens of thousands of patients, delivered thousands of babies and
the hospital continues to train nurses and midwives. However, a problem continues
to be the shortage of trained nurses and midwives who can help teach and train students.
If you can help, please contact Edna Adan Ismael, at ednahospital at hotmail.com [mailto:ednahospital at hotmail.com]

Gulu University, Uganda, has a number of short term voluntary vacancies. If you
are interested in finding out more please click on the link below.
